Nathpa generating 1300 MW power, still 259 MW short
Shimla, July 13 (UNI) Public sector Nathpa Jhakri hydel power project is generating 1,300 MW of power against an installed capacity of 1,500 MW with one unit of 250 MW yet to be synchronised, an official spokesman said today.
''Five units of 250 MW each were producing 1300 MW of power, while the sixth unit is yet to be synchronised,'' an official spokesman told UNI here.
He said the plant was producing 1300 MW of power against a capacity of 1550 MW after the silt level in the reservoir came down to 3,200 parts per million (ppm).
The water discharge had also come down to 800 cumecs against 1100 cumecs yesterday, he said.
The spokesman said the sixth unit of the hydel project was also likely to be synchronised by Saturday, provided all the other parameters remained the same.
The plant remained closed for about three days last week after the silt level crossed the permissible limit of 4,000 ppm causing a loss of Rs 25 crore to the Central and the state government, which has 25 per cent stake in the plant.
