Jammu, July 13 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir administration has put an immediate ban on manufacturing Diclofenac and its formulations for veterinary use in the state.

Controller, Drug and Food Control Organisation has advised all the traders -- retail and wholesale, farmers, dairy owners not to use the drug for veterinary purposes or the formulations containing it.

The drug has been banned due to its adverse ecological impact as studies have indicated that Diclofenac is responsible for a marked decline in the vulture population.
