Jeweller robbed
Chennai, Jul 13 (UNI) Thieves made away with a 100 gm gold jewellery from a shop at Selaiyur, near here, last night.
Police said Srinivasan and Ramkumar of Chrompet came to the jewellery shop on a two-wheeler. Posing as customers, the duo envinced interest in some jewels.
When the shop owner showed a 100 gm gold chain, the duo made good with the ornament after throwing chilli poweder in the owner's face and escaped on their motorcycle.
On hearing his cries, some passers-by gave a chase to the culprits who hit city bus and a road-side structure before they fell on the ground.
The duo threatened the people with a big knife and warned against any attempt to catch them.
However, the crowd overpowered Srinivasan and handed him over to the police. But his Ramkumar managed to escape with the ornament.
