Bhopal, July 13(UNI) Inspector General of Police Mahan Bharat Sagar, involved in a controversy over non-return of a laptop allotted to him earlier, will be withdrawn from the Lokayukta's Special Police Establishment, a government spokesman said today.

Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta Justice Ripusudan Dayal had asked the state government to withdraw the senior IPS officer due to suspected integrity as he failed to return the laptop and kept silent on repeated reminders even seven months after being relieved as I G of Hoshangabad range in November last year.

The spokesman said Mr Sagar, who joined the SPE in March this year, would be posted elsewhere keeping in view the Lokayukta's important recommendation.

''Since the Special Police Establishment is the premier investigating agency, known for impartiality and efficiency, dealing with the cases involving ministers and very senior IAS officers, it is imperative that the Establishment should be manned only by officers against whom no allegation involving integrity may be levelled, otherwise, people's faith in the establishment shall erode and its functioning shall be adversely affected'', the Lokayukta said in his communication to the state government.
