India Post to introduce waterproof envelopes

New Delhi, July 13 (UNI) India Post will tomorrow unveil a special tear and water resistance envelopes, manufactured in collaboration with DuPont India, to cash in on the forthcoming 'Raksha Bhandhan' festivities.

''The size of an envelop will be 11/22 cms and would cost Rs 5 only. These envelopes will be in vibrant colours and designs,'' sources from India Post told UNI.

It is one of the several steps the postal department, which is in existance for the last 152 years, is taking to improve its services.

India Post is facing stiff competition from private courier services and the increasing usage of e-mail, which are affecting its bottom-line adversely.

Although government plans to revive India Post as its earning arm, analysts say the move would counter government's own policy of encouraging the private sector.
