IIT Kharagpur to start its second campus in Rajarhat
Kolkata, Jul 13 (UNI) IIT Kharagpur will start its second campus in New Town at Rajarhat with an investment of Rs 250 crore.
Speaking at a press conference here today, Chairman of Board of Governors, IIT Kharagpur, Sanjiv Goenka said that 10 acres of land for the campus has already been allocated.
''Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has sanctioned Rs 25 crore in the first phase. The construction work of the project will start from October,'' Mr Goenka said.
The Rajarhat campus will initially start with 600 students, which would be increased to 2500, from 2008-09.
This new IIT would have incubation programmes, advanced R&D activities, post graduate and undergraduate education in specialised areas. An industrial hub will also be set up in this campus, Mr Goenka said.
