Gang spying for Pak busted

Sriganganagar, July 13: Security agencies has busted a gang involved in spying for Pakistan on the international borders in Ganganagar district.

The gang includes a Pakistan national and three other people who have been taken into custody.

Sources said one person was arrested from Sirsa district in Haryana. On interrogation, he revealed the names of two other accomplices. These two people were arrested from Kaliya village, around six km from the district headquarters.

These three have given valuable leads to intelligence agencies interrogating them, sources futher said.

The sources said intelligence agencies got to know of transfer of strategic information to Pakistan three days back, when a central agency made inquiries about a Pakistan national Makhan Singh who had come to India to meet his relatives on a visa.

Makhan had a visa valid till Haryana but he managed to reach Kaliya village and met a few people there.

Sources said Makhan was arrested on July 8 from Ailnabad in Haryana's Sirsa district. Some incriminating documents, including maps and information about some defence establishments located on the international borders near Ganganagar, were also seized from him.

The intelligence agencies later arrested Harcharan and Adram Meghwal, members of a displaced family from Pakistan.

On primary investigations, these two arrested disclosed some sensitive information. Makhan Singh and other two were taken to some places from where they had collected strategic information.
