DDA rapped for poor implementation of ST related policies
New Delhi, July 13 (UNI) The National Commission for scheduled tribes has rapped the Delhi Development Authority for poor implementation of scheduled tribes-related policies and programmes and asked it take remedial steps At a review meeting held by the commission to review the implementation of the policies and programmes, it was found that ST employees constituted less than one per cent of the total strength of Group C and D employees, against 7.5 per cent prescribed under the policy.
Among the other lacunae in the implementation of the policies, the huge backlog of ST vacancies had not been filled and there was not a strong enough database to enable proper planning and prioritisation and monitoring of implementation of programmeS related to STs.
The commission directed the DDA to strengthen the database through various means like research studies covering various aspects. Also, it directed the DDA to prepare an appropriate strategy to rectify the situation concerning ST reservation quota in all categories within one month and therafter complete the process within 3-6 months.
This was the first meeting held by the commission for undertaking a detailed review of an organisation.
Similar meetings with other central and state agencies will be held in the near future.
