Court directs govt to pump out waterlogging

Patna, July 13 (UNI) The Patna High Court today rebuking the Bihar government for the pathetic situation in the state due to terlogging, directed it to pump out the rainwater that has inundated several areas.

While hearing a PIL filed by Shyam Kishore Sharma, a division bench of the court comprising Chief Jiustice J N Bhatt and Justice Sheshank Kumar Singh said people were living in hell-like condition due to waterlogging.

The drinking water supplied is not worth using, the court observed and directed the government to take immediate steps for supplying safe drinking water.

The court also asked the government to initiate immediate steps for uninterrupted electricity supply.

The next date of hearing in the case had been fixed on July 20.

The concerned officers had been directed to file the progress report.
