College chairman, Prof booked in murder case
Ambala, JulY 13 (UNI) The case related to the murder of a medical representative at the M M Engineering and Medical College, Mullana, in this district took a new turn today when the police lodged a conspiracy case against chairman of the college and a professor along with four others.
Trust chairman Tarsem Garg had earlier shown ignorance about the incident after Manish's dead body was recovered with multiple injuries near the college campus on Saturday.
Manish had succumbed to his injuries after he was beaten up on suspicion of stealing some hardware from the campus.
Naresh Kumar, brother of the deceased, in his complaint had alleged that Manish, who had gone to the college to deliver operation kits, was beaten to death by security guards Om Parkash and three others at the instance of chairman Garg and Prof Gurcharan Singh.
He further alleged that security guard Om Prakash, accompanied by three other guards--Yad Ram, Balkar and Shiv Ram, beat up his brother inflicting injuries on his private parts and broke his limbs, leading to his death.
Manish's father Om Prakash, an ex-Air Force employee, alleged that the secruity guards after killing his son had thrown his body in the fields from where it was recovered by the police in decomposed condition after three days. But the police did not include Garg's name in the original FIR.
The family members of Manish and a large number of people from Ambala cantonment protested against the incident and blocked the Ambala-Sharanpur national highway twice at Mullana, demanding that Garg should also be brought to the book.
The family members had met the Superintendent of police Amitabh Dhillon yesterday and had demanded that Garg be arrested.
The SP today said that Garg and Prof Gurcharan Singh had been booked under section 120b, 342 and 304 IPC for conspiracy, keeping Munish in illegal detention and provocation for death.
Meanwhile, security guards om Prakash, yad Ram, Balkar and Shiv Ram were produced in the court from where they were sent in judicial cusotdy.
Chairamn Garg and Prof Gurcharan Singh had gone missing and the police were trying to trace them.
