BSP to hold training camp for TN members

Chennai, Jul 13 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will conduct a one-day training camp for its members on July 23 at Kancheepuram, Tiruvellore, Chennai, Vellore, Dindigul, Cuddalore, Erode, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli and Tiruchirapalli.

The newly-nominated BSP State President J James Raj told newsmen here today the party had selected 20 party cadre to conduct the proceedings at the camp.

The trainers will educate partymen on the basic principles, aims and motto of the party, its approach towards people, enrolling members and spreading adequate political awareness.

A retired suprintendent of Police, Mr Raj admitted the party was not popular among the people of Tamil Nadu. He hoped it would get due recognition shortly.

The BSP will contest the local body elections on its own, Mr Raj said.

On the directions of BSP National President G Mayawathi, the party state committee was reconstituted.

Mr K Vijayan, Dr Chakrapani, Mr R Muniraj, Mr V Jayaraman, Mr R Alwarsamy and Dr Subramanian were nominated as state general Secretaries while Mr Sathiyaseelan, Mr P Muthusamy, Mr C Mahan, Ms Thenmozhi, Mr Selvaraj and Mr R Chezhian were the state secretaries.

Mr Mohamed Issac will be the new state treasurer.

Besides, three zonal convenors had been nominated, he added.
