Bomb scare on train from Mumbai creates panic in Gujarat

Vadodara, July 13 (UNI) A bomb scare on the 9115 Bandra Termius-Bhuj Sayajinagari Express created panic among the passengers, leading to its stoppage at Panoli station in Bharuch district of Gujarat this evening.

The bomb scare came just two days after the serial blasts in Mumbai's suburban trains on the Western route, in which 190 were killed and over 700 injured.

According to Vadodara Divisional Railway Manager K L Pande, senior railway officials along with a posse of both Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel had rushed to the spot from Bharuch and Ankaleswar after an anonymous call was received at Bharuch.

As the caller stated that a bomb had been planted in the train that had left Surat at around 1915 hrs, the train was stopped immediately at Panoli station at 2040 hrs.

A thorough check of all the passengers and the train was conducted at the Panoli station with the help of sniffer dogs as well as bomb disposal squads, but no explosives were found.
