Austrian national election set for Oct 1 -TV

VIENNA, July 12 (Reuters) Austria will hold a national election on October 1, state television ORF reported today, citing sources in parliament's all-party executive committee.

The Alpine republic would have had to hold a vote by November 26 under its electoral rules but politicians from all groups in parliament have argued in recent weeks to bring the date forward to avoid a lengthy election campaign.
