Arrest of HOA's ex-treasurer stayed

Chandigarh, July 13 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Virender Singh today stayed the arrest of Bhupinder Singh, the former treasurer of Haryana Olympic Association (HOA) in connection with a case regarding the missing HOA records.

The Court also issued notices to the Haryana government and asked the petitioner to appear before the investigating officer on July 18 at Panchkula. He was also directed to delete the name of Haryana Additional Director General of Police, intelligence, Param Vir Rathi from the list of respondents.

The case had been registered at the Sector 5 Panchkula police station in wake of the special general body meeting of the HOA held at Panchkula sometime back, wherein Congress Lok Sabha member and industrialist Navin Jindal was elected as the HOA president in place of Abhey Singh Chautala.

The petitioner as also H S Bhadu ex-director of the HOA have been accused of taking away the record of the sports body shortly before the control passed into the hands of Jindal-led group.
