Amarnath yatra suspended for second day
Jammu, July 13: The Amarnath yatra was suspended for the second consecutive day today due to overnight landslide at five places in Ramban district which blocked the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
Sources said heavy landslides at five places overnight near Ramban, between 125 to 150 kms from here, led to the suspension of traffic on the national Highway.
The Kashmir valley was cut-off from the rest of the country following the closure of 300-km-long National Highway due to landslides triggered by heavy rains and snowfall this morning.
Meanwhile, traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar highway has been partially restored as the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) personnel have cleared the debris.
Ramban SP Basant Kumar Rath told UNI over the phone that one track of the national highway has been cleared by the BRO personnel.
