6 engineering students arrested for ragging
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, July 13(UNI) Six students of a local private engineering college were arrested for beating up and ragging first year students, police said today.
Police said arrests of second and third year students followed complaint from a first year student from Orissa, Shubhendu Das, who was beaten up on the pretext of ragging by other hostel inmates on Tuesday night.
Several other first year students of Choukse Engineering College also complained about ragging, police said.
The arrested were identified as Pawan Tiwari, Sikander Sonwani, Pankaj Parate, Ravishankar Dixit, Shyamacharan Sahu and Shrikant Chouhan.
