Traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway disrutped for few hours
Srinagar, July 12 (UNI) Traffic on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway was disrupted for few hours following landslides due to heavy rains, official sources said.
They said overnight heavy rains triggered landslides between Ramban and Ramsu forcing authorities to suspend traffic on the highway.
However, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway pressed into service sophisticated machines and cleared the landslides. Traffic was resumed at 1000 hrs.
Sources said only passenger vehicles, including those carrying Amarnath pilgrims, were allowed on the highway from both sides today.
Hundreds of truck laden with essentail commodities are stranded on the highway.
