TN police post tight security in rly stations

Chennai, Jul 12 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Director General of Police D Mukherjee today said security was tightened in all the 650 railway stations and additional police personnel from different parts of the state mobilised and deployed in important railway stations to check passengers and their baggage,following yesterday's serial bomb blasts at Mumbai.

He told newsmen here sooon after reviewing the security arrangements with the Southern railway General Manager Mr Thomas Varghese after visting Chennai Egmore and Central railway stations and Moore Market Complex that additional police forces would also be deployed for providing bandbobust in all the important and crowded trains.

He said a well coordinated security drill was being conducted all over Tamil Nadu especially in the railway stations and patrolling was being intensified at important installations.

He said open line patrolling by Government railway policemen, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, was also intensified.

He said the department had already sounded a red alert across the state and the administration had asked all police chiefs in the districts and cities to provide additional security measures in crowded public places like bus terminals and railway stations.
