Three members of family die of snake bite
Karnal, July 12 (UNI) A young woman and her two children died of snakebite at a poultry farm on the Karnal-Kaithal road here yesterday, police today said.
As all the members of the family, hailing from Nepal, were sleeping on a double bed in a room at the poultry farm, a poisnous snake fell from the thatched roof and bit Gudia (28), her son Shankar (10) and daughter Anjali (8). Her husband Bhim Singh caught the snake with the help of the neighbours, but allowed it to go into the fields as the day marked the begining of the holy month of Sravana, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The three were rushed to the civil hospital in an unconscious state where the doctors declared Anjali dead and referred Gudia and Shankar to PGI Chandigarh.
However, on the suggestion of a friend, Bhim Singh took his wife and son to a 'ojha' in Kheri Man Singh village instead of the hospital. However, both died before the 'ojha' could begin his 'treatment'.
