Texas instrumensts to open facility in Chennai
New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) Texas Instruments that makes micro chips for flat-screen televisions to mobile phones today said that it would open a new facility in Chennai and plans to expand its research and development units in the country.
The country's booming mobile phone market offers the Dallas-based micro chip major huge opportunities, Company's handset unit Senior Vice President Gilles Delfassy said here.
''Mobile phone growth in India is nothing short of a phenomenon, and the wireless industry waits for India's next move because of the impact it will have on the future of mobile phones,'' Delfassy said.
The company's already existing Bangalore facility compliments the compnay's efforts to develop a single chip.
The company today met Communications and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran to announce their road map for its expansion.
