Tata Motors aims at selling one lakh Ace vehicles in 2006-07

Kolkata, July 12 (UNI) Tata Motors today said it is targetting sale of one lakh Tata Ace vehicles in the current fiscal.

The company sold 30000 Tata Ace vehicles in the last fiscal, Tata Motors head sales and marketing LCV and SCV Prem K Verma said.

The company is ramping up its Tata Ace production capacity at its Pune plant to 60,000 units in the current fiscal from 30,000 units in 2005-06 to manufacture the indegenously developed mini truck, company's head corporate communications Debasis Ray said.

Tata Motors has also firmed up plans to set up a new plant at Uttaranchal to meet demand for its products, he said. However, he did not divulge details of capacity and investments in the project.

The new plant is part of the Rs 10,000 crore capital outlay kept by the company for expansion and product development, he said.

The company today introduced the Tata Ace, placed in the small commercial vehicles segment, for the West Bengal market. The vehicle is priced at Rs 2,49,225 (ex-showroom).

Verma said the company, which introduced the Tata Ace in the Indian market in May 2005, would be able to cover all the regions in country by Novermber 2006.

He said the Tata Ace is presently being exported to Sri Lanka and the company is exploring opportunities in other markets.
