Sushma to file defamation suit against Khurana

New Delhi, July 12: Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj today said that she would file a defamation suit against former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana for his yesterday's statement that she had 'links' with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Talking to reporters after the party's office-bearers meeting, she described Mr Khurana as 'blackmailer'. She said Mr Khurana wanted Rajya Sabha nomination from the party and is interested in returning BJP with a proper status.

She said the former Rajasthan Governor had sent this proposal through a religious leader to former Deputy Prime Minister and senior BJP leader L K Advani. Besides, he also made his intentions clear to party General Secretary Kanwar Chand Gehlot during a train journey.

Mr Khurana had conveyed to some of the leaders that unless he was taken back he would come out with some exposures.

Since Mr Khurana's wishes had not been fulfilled he had resorted to blackmailing tactics, she said. Mr Khurana had alleged at a press conference yesterday that he had written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to probe the alleged links of Ms Swaraj with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
