Sub-inspector arrested for accepting bribe

Sangrur, July 12 (UNI) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) caught red-handed a sub-inspector, posted at Bhadaur police station near Barnala, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 at his residence here from a truck owner.

The accused, Iqbal Singh, was arrested yesterday in a trap following a complaint that he was demanding the bribe from the truck owner to return the vehicle, which was recovered by the cop after it was stolen a few days back.

The policeman has been arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
