SR collects Rs 1.78 lakh from ticketless travellers

Chennai, Jul 12 (UNI) Southern Railway (SR) authorities detected 1,099 cases of ticketless travel and collected Rs 1.78 lakh as fine from them during a special ticket checking drive.

An SR release here today said the drive was conducted against passengers travelling without ticket, footboard travellers, unreserved passengers boarding reserved compartments and second class passengers entering higher class coaches among others.

The drive was on for last two days on Chennai Central- Villivakkam-Tiruvallur-Arakkonam sections.
