Sonia calls on injured at Bhabha, Sion hospitals
Mumbai, July 12: United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi visited the Bhabha and Sion hospitals and inquired about the well-being of the patients injured in the seven bomb blasts on the Western railway network.
She was accompanied by Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad as well as Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh last night.
Apart from calling on the injured, she visited the Matunga station, the venue of one of the blasts for an on the spot assessment.
From there, she proceeded to the airport, where she would hold a meeting with the Union ministers and the chief minister before flying to Delhi.
Mr Patil and Mr Yadav, however, would stay back and are expected to address a news conference today morning.
Meanwhile, Mr Deshmukh has convened an all-party meeting today to discuss the security scenario in the aftermath of the blasts.
