Singapore leaders express condolences over Mumbai blasts
Singapore, July 12 (UNI) Singapore President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today extended condolences to President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the Mumbai bomb blasts.
''On behalf of the people of Singapore, I would like to convey my deepest condolences to Your Excellency and the people of India over the dastardly bombings in Mumbai that have taken innocent lives and brought grief to many families,'' wrote Mr Nathan to Dr Kalam.
''Singapore strongly condemns these heinous acts of terror. We stand by the people of India as they mourn the loss of their loved ones,'' he said in a statement.
Mr Lee also conveyed his deepest sympathies to the Prime Minister and the people of India over the bombings in Mumbai.
''We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives, and our thoughts are with the victims and their bereaved families,'' he said.
''Singapore strongly condemns these acts of terrorism. I am confident that under your able leadership, the government and the people of India will stay firm and steadfast against terrorism, and prevail through this difficult time,'' Mr Lee said in his letter to Dr Manmohan Singh.
