Security in Pondy railway stn tightened

Pondicherry, July 12 (UNI) Security has been tightened in Pondicherry railway station and other areas in the wake of yesterday's serial bomb blasts in Mumbai.

According to police, baggages and other luggages brought to the railway station was being checked thoroughly.

Meanwhile, the function to flag off the first electric train from Pondicherry to Villupuram scheduled to be held here this afternoon was cancelled.

According to railway sources, Minister of State for Railways R Velu was scheduled to flag off the train. The programme was cancelled as the Minister was held up in Mumbai following the bomb blast.

The new date for the flagging off would be announced later, sources added.
