10 lakh looted from SBI's branch

Nanded, Maharashtra, July 12: Some unknown robbers have looted cash Rs 10 lakh from the strong room of the State Bank of India's (SBI) Tuppa branch, about 12 km away from here.

District Superintendent of Police Fattesingh Patil told UNI that the robbers broke open the bank's main door and later opened the strong room with the help of a sharp cutter. From which, they have looted Rs 10,70,000 cash from it.

The rural police of Nanded have registered an offence under sections 406, 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unidentified dacoits following a complaint lodged by the bank's branch manager Shashank Shahane yesterday.

No arrest has been made so far in this connection and further investigations were on, Mr Patil added.
