Rise in terrorist activities after UPA Govt assumes power: Singh

Mumbai, July 12 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh today alleged that there has been a spurt in terrorist activities after the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government came to power.

Mr Singh told UNI that a war should be waged against terrorism and said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should immediately convene an all-party meeting on this issue.

He said the government should deal strictly with the culprits involved in the yesterday's blasts in Mumbai, in which 183 people were killed.

The BJP chief visited the four hospitals here, where the injured have been admitted and he made enquiries about their well being. He also visited Mira Road railway station to review the situation.

The incidents like blasts in Varanasi, abortive attempt to attack the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur or blasts on the Mumbai's suburban trains were attempts to foment trouble in the country, he said.

Referring to the talks with Pakistan about peace process, Mr Singh said the government should tell Pakistan that until there is a complete halt of cross-border terrorism, there could be no progress in talks.
