Red alert in Punjab following Mumbai serial blasts
Chandigarh, July 12 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today directed the police to maintain strict vigil in the state in view of the serial blasts in Mumbai.
A red alert, sounded by the state government last evening, was continuing with police personel intensifying patroling and frisking in all 19 districts.
DGP S S Virk has already instructed all the SSPs and other senior officials to strengthen security arrangements at religious places, railway stations, bus stands and at other public places, a spokesman here said.
The police have also set up 'nakas' at important checkpoints, especially those bordering Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
