Rain forces authorities to cancel trains
Siliguri, July 12 (UNI) Seven pairs of trains have been cancelled by the Northeast Fronter Railway authority from today due to heavy rains in West Bengal.
The authority said that some railway bridges had been affected by the rainfall.
N E Railway spokesperson Nripendranath Bhattacharya told reporters that 2343/2344 Darjeeling Mail, 3147/3148 North Bengal Express, 3149/3150 KanchanKannya Express and 2503/2504 New Jalpaiguri Sealdah Superfast train were cancelled indefinitely.
5641/5642 Guwahati-Jhatha Express have also been cancelled from today.
5639/5640 Guwahati Puri Express and 5761/5762 Ranchi Alipurduar Express will be cancelled from tomorrow.
Mr Bhattacharya said some passengers train would be run between North Bengal-Kolkata through an alternative route.
He said Bhahmani river railway bridge between Swadhipur and Nalbari under Howrah division had been badly affected due to huge rainfall in last couple of days forcing the railway authorities to take the decision.
