Mumbai blasts for destabilising commercial capital: PDP
Srinagar, July 12 (UNI) Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said Mumbai blasts were caused to create fear among the people and foment public unrest to destablise the commerical hub of the country.
Severely condemning the blasts, Mr Sayeed and his daughter Mehbooba Mufti, president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expressed grief and anguish over the loss of innocent lives in the attacks.
In a joint statement issued here, they said there is no logic behind such dastardly acts in a civilized society that brings only death and misery.
They said the motive of the perpetrators seem to be to create fear among the people and destabilise the commercial capital.
The PDP leaders said the unfortunate victims of these senseless attacks had nothing to do with politics and were out to earn bread and butter for their families.
They said no religion allows such inhuman acts.
The two leaders urged all political parties to stand united against such forces of terror in this moment of grief and not allow this disaster to distract the country from the agenda of peace and progress.
Expressing sympathies to the families of those who lost their near ones in the blasts, Mr Sayeed and Ms Mufti paid a tribute to the people of Mumbai for exhibiting 'the highest standards of human compassion at this crucial and testing time'.
They also expressed solidarity with the Maharashtra government in this moment of grief.
