MP to set up Sanskrit university

Bhopal, July 12 (UNI) In order to bring in uniformity in syllabus and examination in Sanskrit education, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to set up a Sanskrit University named after Maharshi Panini.

The Maharshi Panini Sanskrit University Bill 2006, approved by the state cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here yesterday, will be presented in the Assembly session beginning July 17. The university will have facilities for training, research and publication, official sources said.

At present, Sanskrit colleges in the state were affiliated with the Awadhesh Pratap University, Rewa or other universities of the region concerned.

The cabinet also approved setting up of veterinary college in Rewa and sanctioned Rs 42 crore for infrastructure development, 109 posts of teaching staff and 99 posts of non-teaching staff.

Of the total 36 veterinary colleges in the country, two are located in Madhya Pradesh at Mhow and Jabalpur.

The cabinet decided to allot land at Badwai near the state capital to Shri Digamber Jain Sarvodaya Shiksha Jyanpeeth Samiti, Bhopal for setting up Vidyasagar Medical College.
