Mohammad Asif ruled out of first test with elbow injury

LONDON, July 12 (Reuters) Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Asif has been ruled out of the first test against England starting at Lord's tomorrow after failing to recover from an elbow injury.

''He hasn't reacted properly to an injection so he will be out,'' Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer told reporters today.

Woolmer said opener Shoaib Malik, who also had a cortisone injection for a similar complaint, was doubtful for the opening match in the four-test series.
