LeT militant killed in encounter

Bhaderwah, July 12 (UNI) Special Task Force (STF) of police gunned down a Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba militant near Dhareja village, in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir last night, police said today.

Assisant Superintedent of Police(Operation) Ashok Sharma told UNI a team of STF led by sub-inspector Shashi Kumar laid an ambush when a group of around six militants were crossing a bridge near the village. In the encounter, one militant was killed while the other fled from the spot under the cover of darkness.

The slain militant was indentified as Mohammad Ramzan alias Abu Usmana resident of Tanta in the district. One AK 47 rifle, three magzines, 11 rounds, one wireless set and one chinese grenade were recovered from him.

One Special Police Officer(SPO) Devinder Kumar was also injured in the encounter. He had been admitted to sub-divisional hospital here, he added.
