Leaders across political ideology condemn Mah blasts, demand probe
New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) Political parties and religious organisations today condemned the Mumbai serial blasts, demanding a probe into the ''intelligence lapse''even as the government reiterated its resolve to deal firmly with terrorism.
The Left parties said yesterday's blasts, which left more than 180 people dead and several hundred injured, were designed to rip apart the country's social fabric and demanded a thorough probe into the intelligence failure.
''The central and state governments must not spare any effort to track down the perpetrators of the heinous crime and take steps to eliminate the network sustaining the terrorists who indulge in organised fanatical operations,'' leaders of the CPI(M), CPI, Forward Bloc, RSP and CPI(M-L) said.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani called the blasts as an attack on the entire country.
He stressed the need for an effective anti-terrorist law, both at the national and state levels.
''It is evident the Pakistani government has not kept its commitment of dismantling the anti-India terrorist infrastructure on its soil,'' he said.
Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray said the serial bomb blasts were a result of the failure of Mumbai police and intelligence agencies.
Union Chemical and Fertilizers and Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan also condemned the dasdardly act and expressed condolence to the bereaved families.
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora also denounced yesterday's serial blasts and urged people to maintain calm in this hour of grief.
Telgu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu deplored the blasts saying the guilty should be brought to book.
Expressing sympathies to the bereaved families, he urged the Centre to act firmly to stamp out terrorists.
Janta Dal (United) criticised the Centre for failing to check terrorism in the country and demanded a high-level probe into the terror attack.
Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy blamed the UPA Government's ''soft approach towards terrorists''.
In a statement here, he alleged the UPA Government was now a confirmed failure on all major dimensions of government policy including economy, national security and foreign affairs.
