K'taka HC asks petitioner to approach govt on quarrying issue

Bangalore, July 12 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today disposed of a writ petition filed by A C Shivalingiah challenging the action of the Mines and Geology Department directing him to stop quarrying and removing stones after mining and asked him to approach the government for obtaining permission for the same.

The appellant said though he had a valid license for ten years to carry out quarrying on a two acre land in Kanakapura village, he had been asked to stop the work, presumably on a direction from the Minister concerned.

A single judge had asked the petitioner to appeal to the Deputy Director of the Department.

Disposing of the petition, the Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Mr Justice D V Shyalendra Kumar altered the direction issued by the single judge by asking the petitioner to approach the government.

UNI XR RG RKN2054 as per the terms of the license duly granted to him by the authorities.
