Involvement of Lashkar-e-Toiba not ruled out: Dr Pasricha
Mumbai, July 12 (UNI) Maharashtra Director General of Police P S Pasricha today said involvement of ''Lashkar-e-Toiba'', a terrorist organisation, can not be ruled out in yesterday's serial train blasts in the commercial capital which claimed 190 lives and injured more than 700 people.
Addressing mediapersons here in the afternoon, Dr Pasricha said,'' We cannot rule out the possibility of involvement of Lashkar-e-Toiba in last evening's serial blast, but it is yet not confirmed.' Dr Pasricha said the investigations has been handed over to ATS (Anti-Terrorist Squads) officials last night itself: The squad is reported to have got some clues in this connection.
Yesterday's serial blast in the western suburbs trains was ''pre-planned'' as police had information that terrorists were planning to target Mumbai.
In this connection police had seized large quantity of explosives, arms and ammunition from Nasik and Aurangabad in May this year.
Forensic experts have taken samples from the site of the blasts and are conducting tests.
High alert has been sounded across the state and additional companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), State Reserve Police (SRP), Rapid Action Force (RPF) and home guards have been deployed.
