Infosys plans major expansions in Hyderabad, Pune, Mohali

Bangalore, July 12 (UNI) IT giant Infosys Technologies Ltd, which employed 17,000 people in its sprawling campus in the Electronic City on the outskirts of the city, has embarked on a major expansion drive in Hyderabad, Pune and Mohali, besides Bangalore.

The company, which had a 29.28 lakh square feet of built up area in its city campus, was building another 3.85 lakh sq feet of infrastructure in the city to accommodate another 2800 seats, according to a fact sheet issued by the company, which announced its first quarter results today.

However, lack of adequate infrastructure and traffic problems in the city had led the company to spread its wings to other cities like Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mohali, Mangalore and Mysore.

In Pune alone, it was building 9.66 lakh sq ft of infrastructure to accommodate 1,900 employees to the existing 9,181. Likewise, in Hyderabad, it was constructing buildings on an area of 7.30 lakh sq ft to house 5,000 employees to the existing 4080.

In Mohali, it had harped on a major expansion plan and was building 7.1 lakh sq ft of new premises to add 3,250 seats to the existing 650.

In Mysore, where it had built a state-of-the-art training facility -- Infosys Leader Institute, the company was adding a huge 14.32 lakh sq ft to the existing infrastructure.
