Indian pip Korea 1-0 in Junior Women Hockey

New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) A superb, opportunistic goal by Vinita Xess helped India pip favourite Korea 1-0 to open their campaign on a winning note in the four-nation Junior Women Hockey tourney at Gifu, Japan, today.

According to information received here, the all-important goal came through an indirect penalty corner. Harpreet Kaur, instead of taking the direct crack, relayed the ball to an unmarked Vinita Xess who made no mistake in sending the ball home.

India face Malaysia in their second match tomorow and will take on hosts Japan on July 15.

The top two teams will figure in the final while other two will battle it out for the third place on July 16.
