IAS officer's parents murdered in Bhikhiwind

Amritsar, July 12 (UNI) The aged parents of Dr Amar Singh, an IAS officer of 1978 batch of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, were brutally stabbed to death in their house in Bhikhiwind in Tarn Taran district last night, police said today.

The victims identified as Malkeet Singh and his wife Gurdev Kaur were stabbed a number of times. Their bodies were discovered this morning by a servant, who informed the police.

Dr Amar Singh, who is presently on deputation at New Delhi, has been informed of the tragedy. According to police, a land dispute was the reason for the murder.

The police has registered a case and begun investigations.

No arrest has been made so far.
