I will not forget it throughout my life: Survivor
Mumbai, July 12: ''It was an incident I would not forget throughout my life,'' said Pushkar Chand, one of the survivors of the yesterday's serial blasts that rocked the metropolis.
A resident of Mira Road, in neighbouring Thane district, who gained consciousness after four hours of the blast at Borivali Railway station Pushkar said it was a tragedy he will never forget throughout his life.
Pushkar was rushed to Bharat Sagar hospital at Borivali by his relatives and he regained consciousness at about 1100 hrs last night after which, the doctor allowed him to go home. However, he could barely speak to his family.
Mr Kishor Pal, who took him to hospital told UNI that Pushkar was his neighbour. On learning about the blast at Borivali station, Kishor tried calling up Pushkar on his mobile phone. But there was no response on the other end. After some time, a lady attended the call and said, ''Aapka Admi Behosh pada hai Borivali station par,' (Your man is lying unconscious at Borivali station).
He received sharapnel wounds on the body. Kishore along with his other friends rushed to Borivali station, from where he took Pushar to private hospital.
After he regained consciousness, Pushkar recalled that he was standing on the footboard of the first class compartment when the blast took place. The explosion was so huge, that he was thrown at the platform. He does not recollect what happened there after.
Another eyewitness, a resident of Nallasopara told UNI she worked in Santacruz and was going to her friend's place at Wadala when a blast accused between Santacruz and Khar station due to which services were stopped on the route.
She was in a harbour bound train to Wadala, which was also stalled close to the blast site. ''There were eight other ladies in the compartment along with me. We were stuck in the train throughout the night.'' ''I could see bodies strewn across the tracks. It was a ghastly sight,'' she said.
Railway police provided them with biscuits and tea while they were stranded in the train.
She heaved a sigh of relief when she reached her friends place but only this morning.
