Hip replacement on centenarian performed
Vijayawada, Jul 12 (UNI) A private hospital here gave a fresh lease of life to a 106-year-old woman who broke her hip after suffering a fall in the bathroom.
Addressing a press conference here today, Hospital Chief Executive P V Ramana Murthy said C Satyavati Amma was rushed to the hospital by her family members after she fell in the bathroom of her home.
The surgeons at the hospital advised the family members to go for a hip replacement surgery after an X-ray showed she suffered a fracture.
A team of doctors led by noted Orthopaedic Surgeon B Sunil conducted the operation which lasted for 90 minutes. The woman was soon able to walk with support.
