Former Minister's son sentenced to death

Dehra Dun, July 12 (UNI) A local court today sentenced Kundan Narain Das, son of former Uttaranchal BJP minister Narain Ram Das, to death for killing Bageshwar Municipal Corporation Chief Ramesh Jauhari in february this year.

The sentence was passed by Bageshwar Sessions Judge A K Kakkad.

On February 15, Kundan Das stormed into Jauhari's corporation office and stabbed him to death. He later surrendered before the police.

Political rivalry was said to be the motive behind the killing since both Mr Jauhari and Mr Das belonged to BJP.

Meanwhile Rashmi Jauhari, wife of slain Ramesh Jauhari has won the presidential seat of Bageshwar Municipal Corporation in the recently held corporation by-election.
