Five trains cancelled, origin points of four trains changed

Ahmedabad, July 12 (UNI) The Railways today cancelled the Shatabdi train from Ahmedabad, and four trains originating from Mumbai, including the Shatabdi, even as normal services resumed on the Western line after the serial blasts that rocked Mumbai last evening.

The 2010 Shatabdi from Ahmedabad to Mumbai and its counterpart from Mumbai 2009, 9023 Ferozepur Express, 9215 Saurashtra Express from Mumbai to Ahmedabad and 239B Ahmedabad passenger train have been cancelled for the day.

The origin points of another four trains have been changed. The Saurashtra Janata Express which runs from Bandra to Ahmedabad will now start from Valsad, the Siyaji Express to Bhuj from Virar, 245 Mumbai-Vapi from Vasai road and Surat Intercity from Virar, a railway spokesman told UNI.

As a red alert has been sounded across all Gujarat stations, Ahmedabad's Kalupur station has been sanitised and extra deployment of Railway Protection Force ordered.

DRM Arvind Khare today personally inspected the security measures at the reservation office, platforms and the waiting halls.

Massive security checks with the help of sniffer dogs and bomb detection squads, were carried out at all the stations en route to Mumbai.

The railways have sought assistance of Gujarat Police's regular forces also.
