Cycle agarbathi unit in Chandigarh in the offing
New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) Mysore-based makers of 'Cycle' brand of incense sticks (agarbatti) will set up its new manufactuing unit in Chandigarh in a bid to strengthen its presence in North India for maintaining its edge in the Rs 1100 crore agarbatti market.
The company has also set up four new marketing warehouses in the last three months at Ambala, Lucknow, Zirakhpur and Delhi alongwith the existing one at Ghaziabad to tap the Rs 400 crore northern market.
It has also forayed into the 'Dhoop' category, worth Rs 200 crore under the brand name Parampara, Medini and Dharthi respectively.
''Our core competition is in fragrance creation which will seperate us from other players. We hope to garner 30 per cent business in north region in three to five years,'' N Ranga Rao&Sons CEO and Managing Partner Arjun Ranga said.
Dhoops made from natural herbs, resins, aromatic oils and pure ghee has a longer shelf life and is suitable for different climatic conditions prevalent in the region, he added.
The company is exporting its products to South American countries including Brazil, Peru and Argentina.
Export of incense sticks reached Rs 320 crore last fiscal.
