CMM denies SHO bail, sends him in judicial custody
New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Seema Maini sent a Delhi Police inspector into judicial custody till July 26, denying him bail in a case of custodial death reported 9 years ago.
Working with the logistics department on the post of inspector at present, Dharampal Singh, the then SHO of Hauz Khazi, had picked up one Harishankar and 7 others on 8 December 1997 in a case of stabbing.
Harishankar died later in the police custody, causing his brother Rupesh to move the court.
The NCT Government transferred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation on 17 April 1998.
Although the Sessions court discharged the accused, the CBI moved the Delhi High Court which reversed the decision.
