Chambers see no adverse impact of blasts on the economy
New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) Asking the international business to retain confidence in India, apex industry chambers today said the Mumbai blasts which claimed about 200 lives, would not have any major impact on the economy.
''We are confident that the indefatigable spirit of India will win and that the blasts will not affect the international confidence in India. The rupee fell against the dollar today, but in line with a wider fall in Asian currencies following the bomb blasts this is natural. CII urges the international businesses to continue to have faith in Asia's third largest economy,'' CII President R Seshasayee said here.
Expressing anguish over the incident, PHDCCI Secretary General Bibek Debroy stated the Indian economy is on a strong growth path and events such as these would certainly hamper the growth process.
However, the country's entrepreneurship has displayed in the light of several such mishaps, the chamber is confident that all Indians would quickly bounce back.
Assocham President Anil K Agarwal called upon the law enforcing agencies to ensure such heinous crimes do not lead to deter the potential investors to invest in India, as the economic fundamentals of the nation will always be investor friendly.
Ficci Chief Saroj K Poddar also expressed faith in the resilience of the Indian people and the economy.
