Blair condemns shameful, brutal terror attacks

New Delhi, Jul 12: British Prime Minister Tony Blair 'utterly condemned' the 'brutal and shameful' terrorist attacks in Mumbai and Srinagar, saying there could never be any justification for such 'heinous crimes.' Mr Blair, in a message late last night, extended support to India in its fight against terrorism, ''in all its forms,'' a spokesman for the British High Commission said.

''I condemn utterly the brutal and shameful attacks. There is no justification for such terrorist attacks. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families,'' the Prime Minister's statement said.

''Britain stands united with India, the world's largest democracy, through our shared values and shared determination to defeat terrorism in all its forms,'' his statement added.

More than 170 people were killed and over 400 injured, many of them seriously, as serial blasts yesterday ripped through packed suburban trains in the country's financial capital. Eight people, including six tourists from West Bengal, were killed and 37 injured in five grenade attacks in Srinagar.
