Bihar thrash Uttranchal 9-0 in Jr Girls Football Nationals
Chandigarh, Jul 12 (UNI) Bihar tasted their first victory as they blanked Uttranchal 9-0 in a Cluster-B match in the Third Junior Girls Under-17 National Football Championship being played at the Punjab Engineering College Campus here today.
With this victory Bihar secured three points. Bihar had lost to runners-up Orissa in their opening encounter.
Bihar meant business from the start and they were two goals up in three minutes, with Mamta striking in the second and third minutes.
She also scored in the 33rd minute for her third goal.
However, Niki was Bihar's main goal-getter as she contributed four goals. She struck in the 11th, 38th, 47th and 51st minutes.
Amrita and Shilpi netted one goal each in the 18th and 49th minutes to complete Uttranchal's rout.
Goa began their campaign with a 4-1 victory over Jharkhand in Cluster C. However, it was Jharkhand who drew the first blood by scoring through C Mundali.
Goa were quick to neutralise the lead in the 49th minute with Mqrella Xavier scoring a fine goal. Falina Cardozo changed the complexion of the game by scoring two goals in eight minutes.
Malvita Mascrenhas rounded off the winners' tally in the 77th minute.
